FLOWERS TO INFINITI  |  For: Nagoya Design! Do! competition  |  Enlarge this image
This competition challenged designers to contend with "fragility." My two entries explored interacting with artificial life. First, I devised an artificial flower that blooms, changes colors and dies repeatedly, using heat-sensing dyes, a motor and a computer chip to facilitate the process. The premise is that fake flowers ignore the element of decay that is intrinsic to a real flower's beauty. Its fleeting nature is what makes it so special.
